Our membership includes all types of boaters and boating families (power, sail, and paddlers), novices and experienced boaters alike. You don't need a boat to join; just have a keen interest in boating-related activities and an eagerness to meet others who do, too. We have many enjoyable on-the-water and land-based activities, including boating activities, social events, learning opportunities, and other get-togethers. The New Castle Squadron is an organization of boaters who believe in boating fun, safety on the water, and boating education. We teach a public boating course and offer many advanced and elective courses to anyone who wishes to become a member.     Our Squadron was chartered in 1940 and is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Squadron members are nearly equally divided between power and sail boaters. About half the membership currently owns a boat, which range in size from 11 to 65 feet. We typically enjoy boating in the Atlantic Ocean, in the Hudson River, near Sandy Hook Recreation Area, as well as in the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers.     Swiftwater Power Squadron Inc., a unit of United States Power Squadrons®, was chartered on 28 August 1957. A small group of forty men, members of Buffalo Squadron, saw the need for a squadron in the northern suburbs of Buffalo. This group met at the Elks Lodge in North Tonawanda to organize the new Squadron. Throughout its history, members have enthusiastically enjoyed teaching the boating public safe boating skills, furthering their own nautical education, and assisting NOAA with chart corrections to our waterways and geodetic marker recovery.
