Saybrook Squadron was chartered on February 6, 1953 to provide service to the towns of the lower Connecticut River Valley and adjacent communities along the Long Island Sound shoreline. Our Squadron was chartered in 1940 and is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Squadron members are nearly equally divided between power and sail boaters. About half the membership currently owns a boat, which range in size from 11 to 65 feet. We typically enjoy boating in the Atlantic Ocean, in the Hudson River, near Sandy Hook Recreation Area, as well as in the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for Safe Boating Fun, and Education, to boaters living in Columbia County Oregon as well as Longview and Kelso Washington. We plan on doing this by scheduling Cruises, Social Activities and by providing Boat Smart Classes for the general public. Swiftwater Power Squadron Inc., a unit of United States Power Squadrons®, was chartered on 28 August 1957. A small group of forty men, members of Buffalo Squadron, saw the need for a squadron in the northern suburbs of Buffalo. This group met at the Elks Lodge in North Tonawanda to organize the new Squadron. Throughout its history, members have enthusiastically enjoyed teaching the boating public safe boating skills, furthering their own nautical education, and assisting NOAA with chart corrections to our waterways and geodetic marker recovery.
