Clagett Sailing, a multi-dimensional program for sailors living with disabilities and mobility issues. Great Lakes Steel Boat Club (GLSBC) is a private boat club on the Detroit River opened in the 1960’s by Great Lakes Steel employees. The land GLSBC now sits on was the site of the June 7, 1958 launch of SS Edmund Fitzgerald. GLSBC is a member only club but does offer a public gas dock with marine fuel that is open weekend hours May – September. The Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club was established over 50 years ago in the historic coastal town of Hull Massachusetts. The original purpose of the club was to promote interest in salt-water fishing and hunting, as well as, to encourage younger people in these sports, so as to become better sportsmen. From these early days of hunting and fishing, the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club has evolved into an active social organization that also offers many activities for boaters, such as, nautical classes, historical lectures, dances, and dock parties. The history of yacht clubs on the Ottawa River begins with the Ottawa River Yacht Club. On the twenty fifth of October 1910 five men met with the Secretary of State of Ohio for the purpose of furthering yachting and its related activities in County of Lucas, Township of Washington city of Point Place. Although they already were an organization called the Ottawa Yacht Club they decided to become a charter organization with the State of Ohio. From henceforth The Club's name became Ottawa River Yacht Club. On November 10th, of the same year, 121 charter members of the Ottawa River Yacht Club petitioned the Stare for Incorporation. From its humble beginnings in 1910 to its present day Ottawa River Yacht Club was and is in the forefront in any activity related to boating in and around the Ottawa River and Maumee Bay and beyond. Our clubhouse overlooks the Chagrin River and has plenty of elbow room with approx. 5000 Sq.Ft. The front deck is mostly shaded and is a great place to sit and watch all the action on the river. Our Club State Room can handle up to 200 people. We have many events and most are hosted in this area. Our bar is open during events and is ready with your favorite refreshments! Our harbor has quality floating docks, many of which can handle up to a 40' vessel! All of our docks have fresh water hookups and electric. All docks come with a "green area" for members.
