The Historic Naval Ships Association (HNSA) links the public with historic ships from around the world. These ships are storytellers and the deeds of those who served aboard them provide inspiration to present and future generations. The Association is a non-profit organization whose membership is comprised of naval ship museums and memorials around the world as well as individuals, businesses and organizations that promote our mission. We support the ships in our Fleet by being a networking and information hub linking our members to advance the preservation and promotion of all ships we represent. We promote visiting the world’s historic naval ships and advocate for the need to save these important vessels for future generations so that they may continue to proudly serve their countries in honor of those who served and continue to serve at sea.

The objective of the International Journal of Naval History is to provide a pre-eminent forum for works of naval history researched and written to demonstrable academic standards. Our hope is to stimulate and promote research into naval history and foster communication among naval historians at an international level. The journal is an independent voice for serious research into all manner of naval history and maritime studies. This includes work touching the naval traditions of all nations and regions in all time periods. The International Journal of Naval History appears on the worldwide web as a free service to scholars and interested individuals courtesy of both its all-volunteer staff and the U.S. Naval Historical Foundation.

The National Navy SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the United States Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Museum resides on the training grounds of the original Navy combat divers, the Frogmen. Built to honor the men who served with fortitude and dedication, the Navy SEAL Museum first opened its doors on Veterans Day in 1985. From humble beginnings, the facility has experienced tremendous growth, achieving national stature in 2007. Since 1926 the Naval Historical Foundation’s principal purpose has been to educate Americans about the history and importance of American sea power, and the contribution and sacrifices United States Navy sailors have made while protecting our freedom and preserving democracy in peace and war. Photographic History of the U.S. Navy. NavSource is not a business, it is a group of volunteers who are not paid for their time and efforts; we do it because we all share the same respect and love of naval history and through our efforts provide a free resource for the naval enthusiast that has been unavailable by other means. The simple goal of NavSource Naval History is the preservation of naval history, in the form of images and text, also to help former shipmates find each other by providing reunion and contact information.

The Submarine Force Museum, located on the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut, maintains the world's finest collection of submarine artifacts. It is the only submarine museum operated by the United States Navy, and as such is the primary repository for artifacts, documents and photographs relating to U.S. Submarine Force history. The museum traces the development of the "Silent Service" from David Bushnell's Turtle, used in the Revolutionary War, to the Ohio and Virginia class submarines. Originally established as "The Submarine Library" by Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in 1955, the Submarine Force Library and Museum soon gained respect for its archival and research value. In April 1964, the entire collection was donated to the Navy and relocated to the Naval Submarine Base, New London, Groton, Connecticut. The name "Submarine Force Library and Museum" was officially adopted in 1969. The museum's collections include more than 33,000 artifacts, 20,000 significant documents and 30,000 photographs. Honoring the Men & Women of the Sea Services. The Navy Memorial includes both a commemorative public plaza and a Naval Heritage Center. The plaza is a round ceremonial amphitheater paved in granite to form a 100-foot diameter of the world. Surrounding the deck of the plaza are fountains, pools, flagpole masts, and sculptural panels depicting historic achievements of the sea services. A symbolic statue of a Lone Sailor stands watch near the edge of the plaza. A world-class location in Washington, D.C., and a virtual presence around the world, the Navy Memorial celebrates the camaraderie of service at sea.

USS Bowfin (SS-287) is a fleet attack submarine that fought in the Pacific during WWII, and helped to make famous the term, “Silent Service.” Bowfin was launched on 7 December 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger, so it is fitting that her permanent home is at Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i. USS Bowfin is fortunate not to have ended up as scrap metal or as target practice and Bowfin is one of only fifteen U.S. WWII submarines that survived this fate. Today, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, is a reality; her story and the story of the U.S. Submarine Force, past and present, will be able to live on thanks to the hard work and dedication of individuals from both the military and the civilian communities. The USS LEXINGTON, CV-16, is a World War II-vintage Essex Class aircraft carrier. Commissioned in 1943, she served the United States longer and set more records than any other Essex Class carrier in the history of naval aviation. Visit the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum in Albany, NY where you can see the only remaining Destroyer Escort afloat in the United States today. During World War II, 563 Destroyer Escorts battled Nazi U-boats on the North Atlantic protecting convoys of men and material. In the Pacific they stood in line to defend naval task forces from Japanese submarines and Kamikaze air attacks. Today, only one of these ships remains afloat in the United States, the USS SLATER. Moored on the Hudson River in Albany, New York, the USS SLATER has undergone an extensive restoration that has returned the ship to her former glory.
