The Brendan program is a sailing training program that builds confidence and improves self-esteem for youth with learning differences through sailing education. Brendan focuses on each student and his or her individual needs. While the primary focus is on sailing skills, the end result is a strong sense of accomplishment and enhanced self-worth. Welcome to the Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron (PSPS), a non-profit organization dedicated to boating safety through education, civic service and fellowship. PSPS is a unit in District 27 of the United States Power Squadron. USPS certified instructors conduct a number of public seminars and member advanced courses on a wide array of topics. Promoting boating safety, qualified members conduct free Vessel Safety Checks for more than 150 boats annually. The Cruise Committee organizes a number of boating activities throughout the year. Although Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron makes a serious commitment to promoting safe boating through education, the natural end result of gathering people who love both water and boating is increased social activities, new friendships and real fun on and off the water. The Potomac River Power Squadron, founded in 1915, is one of the oldest of the 450 regional squadrons that make up the world's largest boating organization. Located in Washington, DC, the squadron offers to the public, at nominal cost, Boating Courses. Members enjoy boating and water activities, fascinating speakers at monthly meetings and education courses covering topics from Seamanship and Piloting to Celestial Navigation with electives in other subjects such as Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Weather, and Sail. As a civic service, we offer Vessel Safety Examinations at no cost to the public. Washington, DC

Our underlying goals include developing self-esteem while nurturing responsible behavior and positive, lifelong ambitions. We have been in the business of providing a SAFE and educational introduction to our Country's young people, their families and their communities, to all types of water based recreational activities in one of the most diverse "hands-on" Classrooms in America since 1995.
