    We are part of the Sailing Club at the University of Miami. The Sailingcanes are one of the oldest club sport on campus. In 2004 we formed the first competitive sailing team at the "U". With the ideal sailing conditions in Miami and Biscayne Bay, UM is the perfect place for a collegiate sailing team. The team currently practices at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club. Miami, Florida

    The Upper Keys Sailing Club was founded in 1973, and moved to its current location in 1977. Over the years, our sailing activities have increased and races are held with great frequency for large cruising class boats as well as small boats. Fleets have come and gone; in the 90s, we had large Flying Scot and Sunfish fleets; the largest fleet currently is the Hobie Wave fleet.     It is the mission of the US Sailing Center to provide a permanent site and facilities for the training of Olympic sailors and the racing of National and International sailboat classes, and to promote the sport of competitive sailing. Children and adult residents of the City of Miami are encouraged to utilize the facility for their competitive sailing. Built specifically for competitive sailing, our two-story facility is located on approximately two acres of waterfront property on Biscayne Bay. To launch boats, the Schoonmaker Center has two three-ton hoists for launching and hauling all larger watercraft. Additionally, two large ramps are available for launching smaller sailboats, windsurfers, paddle board or kayaks. The facility is available to the residents of Miami and the public for a nominal fee. The Venice Sail and Power Squadron(VSPS) was chartered on November 10, 1958 as a unit of the United States Power Squadrons®, a non-profit organization, dedicated to boating safety. We have 100 members who are interested in boating activities and education. We hold regular monthly membership meetings and cruises, as well as teaching the United States Power Squadrons® America's Boating course.
