The Hudson River Yacht Racing Association (HRYRA) was founded in 1953, by a group of dedicated racing sailors with the aim of promoting inter-club yacht racing in order to expand the competition of sailboat racing on the Hudson River. Since its founding, HRYRA has become a member association of US Sailing (Area B) and as such is the nationally sanctioned governing body for all sailboat racing on the Hudson River.

Huguenot Yacht Club was organized in 1894 as Neptune Yacht Club (after Neptune Island). The Club opened officially on New Year's Day 1895, renamed in honor of the Huguenots who came to New Rochelle in 1688 from La Rochelle, France. Huguenot Yacht Club is a year round club with a wide variety of activities for its members to enjoy. The Mayfield Yacht Club is located in Mayfield, New York on the Great Sacandaga Lake. The club was founded in 1930, the same year this large, 28 mile long lake was created by the Hudson River Regulating District (now Hudson River - Black River Regulating District.) We are a working club, not a marina. We have three scheduled work parties every year, and club members are encouraged to participate. We build and float our own docks, maintain the clubhouse and grounds, and perform most basic repairs needed about the club. We have a number of activities that include all members. We conduct a junior sailing program most every year, have a sailboat racing program for both large and small boat sailors, a women's sailboat race, a "powerboater" breakfast (the best!), and Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day parties.
