One of the oldest boat clubs in the Hudson Valley the Newburgh Yacht Club sits at the base of the resurgent historic district of Newburgh NY. The Newburgh Yacht Club was organized as the Newburgh Canoe and Boating Association in 1885. In the early years they became known as the "Dock Rats" because the Headquarters apparently was in the almost inaccessible recesses of a dock storehouse at the foot of Fourth Street.
