- Adirondack Watershed Institute
Adirondack Watershed Institute
The mission of the Adirondack Watershed Institute of Paul Smith's College is to protect clean water, conserve habitat, and support the health and well-being of people in the Adirondacks through science, collaboration, and real world experiences for students. With globally unique wetlands, thousands of lakes and ponds, and over 30,000 miles of rivers and streams the aquatic resources of the Adirondack Park are extensive and diverse and provide a range of ecosystem services for both residents and visitors. There are multiple justifications for focusing resources on saving and protecting this special place from the environmental and socioeconomic threats to our aquatic resources. Paul Smiths, New York

- Cassadaga Lakes Association
Cassadaga Lakes Association
On August 8, 1957, over 60 people attended a meeting, held at the American Legion in Cassadaga, to discuss the safe and proper use of the Cassadaga Lakes. It was soon voted on and approved to form the Cassadaga Lakes Association for the purpose of promoting safety procedures on our lakes, that the interest of all persons using the lakes for whatever purpose, would be served, and with the maximum of pleasure and safety for all. While the current organization still faces some of the same problems that hindered the original association, the CLA continues to prosper and grow under dedicated and tireless leadership and with the help of an environmentally aware and appreciative membership and community. The Cassadaga Lakes are our lakes and that makes them our responsibility. The Cassadaga Lakes Association has accepted, and will continue to accept, the challenges of protecting our lakes for the maximum of pleasure and safety for all. Cassadaga, New York

As a mission to improve overall water quality in Moriches Bay, and increase its environmental productivity, the Moriches Bay Project is dedicated to reestablishing populations of shellfish and eelgrass to this fragile marine environment.
