- NIDIS | U.S. Drought Portal
NIDIS | U.S. Drought Portal
The National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) grew out of a number of activities. The National Drought Policy Act of 1998 gave rise to a National Drought Policy Commission which ensured collaboration between government agencies on drought related issues. The Commission's groundbreaking report, Preparing for Drought in the 21st Century laid the groundwork for drought early warning in the U.S. through a series of recommendations to Congress. Following the Commission’s recommendations, NIDIS was envisioned in a 2004 report from the Western Governors' Association. The NIDIS Act was signed into law in 2006. The NIDIS Act was reauthorized in 2014. The US Drought Portal is designed to serve your needs. The goal is provide a one-stop shop for current, reliable, and useful information and resources related to drought.

Plymouth State College (PSC) Weather Center
The Plymouth State Weather Center web portal was established in 1994. It was created by emeritus professor James Koermer, with support and assistance from Ted Wisniewski and Information Technology Services (ITS). At the time, Plymouth State was one of the first institutions in the country to provide global access to real time weather data via the internet. A year later, a National Science Foundation supported Unidata equipment grant provided hardware upgrades. In 1999, a NOAAPORT system was added to provide a more reliable source of real time weather data. Server upgrades in 2003, 2008 and 2013 with support from NOAA and NASA have provided additional processing power and data storage capacity. Plymouth, New Hampshire
